Welcome

This is the official website of Gary Wayne Smith. My songs are the result of capturing the stories of people and situations I have encountered in my life. I try to find the "extraordinary" side of common activities. Living in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, some songs are influenced by my close proximity to the sea while others are of universal appeal (Such as "You're Not Thinking About Me" which I wrote for my children to tell them my thoughts in case I leave home some day and never make it back again).

Check out the "Story/Lyrics" tab for the complete story behind all the songs on my debut CD.

News:
Check out the new Blog tab. I have been writing "Road Stories"  for many years telling about a lot of places I have travelled to. The friends I have emailed those stories to suggested I should add it to the web site for my music, so you can read them too. Hope you enjoy and comment because they are all just my version of the experiences.

New uploads to the site include:
-The song "If I go" written by my buddy Everett Perry, which tells the story of a young man who leaves his family home ("This fine rock") to go make a life on his own. Everett did a great job of capturing the doubts that go through a young man's mind as he strikes out on his own.

- CDs are available in St. John's at Crafted Treasures, Obrien's Music Store and Fred's Records.

Thank you very much for all the kind comments people have made on the site thus far, I really appreciate it and I look forward to hearing more, so please send me a note!

Gary what ever happens, dont let Colin become your manager. Hay Gary all funning apart, you just might be able to give up your day job, the couple of songs i have listened to are good. I'll bye the CD. Good luck Man

Your web page is relaxed and comfortable. Not over crowed not over bearing. Your two songs. The lyrics the rhythm and how they systematicly flow make for good listing buddy. You got us from beginning to end. Seafarer's Song, your story arouses curiosity, imagination and interest. Though it has been written & sung with much variation by generations of Newfoundlanders, your song has a fresh flavour. Looking forward to more though I am die hard rock. Good job buddy
